Ecuador: Ecuadorian revolutionaries denounce State’s terrorism
The Defense Front of Struggles of the People of Ecuador [Frente de Defensa de Luchas del Pueblo de Ecuador – FDLP-EC] published last 11th May an statement denouncing the State’s terrorism, regarding the new governmental law which authorize the Armed Forces of Ecuador to act against the “terrorist menace” that could put the State in danger. Specifically, the law authorizes the military to “do war operations in order to confront and counteract terrorist individuals and organizations.”
Against this law, the Ecuadorian revolutionaries affirm that “the disgusting violence that has been unleashed in the country is not an isolated event typical of the contradictions between criminal gangs”. Actually, this violence is born “of the deep crisis of bureaucratic capitalism”, and “is a part of a macabre plan drawn up by Yankee imperialism”. We already published how the Ecuadorian revolutionaries denounced on 1st of May the links between the violence of organized crime, and the State’s terrorism.
Regarding the plan made by the Yankee imperialism, the statement explained this as follows: “People of Ecuador, do not doubt that the CIA and Mossad operators are active in our country; in addition, they provide the necessary resources, logistics, and support for violent groups to unleash veritable orgies of blood to create the political framework and media conditions to justify their presence in national territory. We are an oppressed country; imperialism is urged to keep us in these conditions because they facilitate not only the free movement of capital, the exploitation and usurpation of natural resources, but also keep us submerged as a captive market and with many of important geopolitical value, and to continue holding its condition of being the club of capitalism in the world.”
This violence and the militarization of the streets by the Ecuadorian State, it is happening since a long time ago, for example, it happened also in 2021. The State of Ecuador is using the delinquency violence and conflicts between gangs as excuse. But the reality, this law is made in order to sharp the wave of repressive violence against mass leaders, and the Ecuadorian revolutionaries also are denouncing this. For example, this was showed with the murder of Eduardo Mendúa, leader of the CONAIE [Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador – Confederación de Nacionalidades Indígenas de Ecuador, organization that gathers different indigenous groups of the country]. The statement of 11th May also explains this links between the raise of crimes, militarization of streets and popular repression: “They accuse the indigenous movement of being terrorists, well, at least those who are somewhat insubordinated; They accuse all of us who in one way or another have played a leading role in popular uprisings as terrorists, and with that stigma they want to be vaccinated, they want to ensure that future mobilizations, uprisings no longer have the necessary belligerent character, combative, necessary to respond to the old State and its unbridled and bloody repressive campaigns.”
Taking into account this previous facts, the Ecuadorian revolutionaries follows in the statement: “It is seen coming from the State, a campaign of persecution, imprisonment, and even, of selective assassinations; They will not allow those who are honest and consistent with the interests and struggles of our people, to deploy their political efforts without having to confront the violence of the State that express itself in all its forms, mainly repressive, prison.”. In conclusion, in the future the old Ecuadorian State will sharp it’s repressive campaign against the popular organizations, as has happened previously.
