India: Alleged important Maoist cadre Sanjoy Rao arrested

Indian newspapers reports that on the 15th of September the old Indian State arrested Sanjoy Deepak Rao and his wife Muruvupalli Raji in the Kukatpally area in Hyderabad.

Sanjoy Rao is accused of being a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Maoist). He is also accused of being the secretary of the Western Ghats Special Zonal Committee (WGSZC), South Regional Bureau. Muruvupalli Raji is also accused of being a member of the Western Ghats Special Zonal Committee.

The police has claim that he is an important Maoist leader who has been active in the communist movement in India since the 1990s. The case against Sanjoy Rao is run among other under the so-called ‘Unlawful Activities Prevention Act’, a law to terrorize all true democrats, progressives and revolutionaries.
