On August 14 progressive organizations protested in Legazpi City, Bicol, to condemn Yankee imperialism and protest against its presence in the country. They carried out the action on the last day of the so-called humanitarian mission (according to Yankee imperialism and its lackey Philippine government) which was being carried out since August 1. In July a Yankee warship arrived carrying 500 Yankee, Japanese and South-Korean soldiers. The rally was in front of a hotel where Yankee troops were hosted. The protesters explained that United States use this kind of missions to drag the Philippines into warmongering against Chinese social-imperialism.
Recently there have been more protests against Yankee military presence in the country, such as on July 31, when there was a rally in front of the Yankee embassy in Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City. There the League of Filipino Students (LFS) and the Filipino Youth for Palestine carried out a rally to protest against Yankee control over the Philippines. The demonstrators referred to the Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, and to the Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, as war criminals. In this rally Yankee flags were torched. Also Yankee imperialisms support to the genocide committed by the State of Israel in Palestine was denounced.
There have been mobilizations against Yankee imperialism in other Asian countries which are facing Yankee imperialist rule. On August 10, in Seoul, South Korea, protesters opposed to the ‘nuclear war games’ by the US and South Korea. Currently there are 28,500 Yankee troops in South Korea. Additionally 19,000 South Korean soldiers will participate in these exercises.
As we previously reported, Yankee imperialism is further increasing its military presence in Asia and the Yankee ministers Austin and Blinken have made a tour during the month of July through many countries to develop the imperialist ties of Yankee imperialism on this area of the world even further. In some of them they were met with protests, as in the Philippines, Japan, etc. Regarding this Yankee imperialism plan, was published in Ang Bayan: “It aims to further bind the Philippines to US geopolitical strategy and use the country as a launching pad for its planned war in the region.”
