Philippines: Punitive Actions Carried Out by RJPC-NPA
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a statement issued by the New People’s Army – Northern Negros published on the 15th of May in the Philippine Revolution Web Central (PRWC).
Although the red combatants of the Roselyn Jean Pelle Command-NPA and the entire revolutionary forces of Northern Negros are mourning, they have not stopped launching tactical offensives to bring justice to the victims of anti-social elements and the fascist State itself. In the almost three weeks since the bloody massacre in Toboso 19, the RJPC-NPA successfully launched two separate punitive actions.
On May 5, the revolutionary movement sentenced Jemar Mahusay, 53 years old from Sitio Agbalatuan, Barangay Dolis, Calatrava, to death. This sentence was carried out on the following grounds: (1) murdering his own brother; (2) assualting residents in the area; (3) threatening to murder his mother; and (4) harassing women in the area.
On May 13, in Barangay Minautok, Gerry Baitan, 53, was also punished for the rape of his 18-year-old disabled daughter. Apart from this, Baitan is also known to be an asset of the 79th IB stationed in Calatrava. Specifically, to reach the ‘quota,’ he pointed out civilians as NPA members. He also personally joined the looting of homes while acting as “guide” for the military thugs.
These punitive actions are a demonstration that the New People’s Army (NPA) will continue to exist because of the support of the broad masses oppressed and exploited by the ruling classes. From then until now, only the red combatants have sincerely protected the welfare and interests of the Negros’ masses.
This is also a slap in the face of the 79th IB, PNP, and NTF-Elcac, who are like broken records for boasting that the guerrilla has been `dismantled’. This will also serve as a warning to them and the traitors to the revolution. As long as injustice, poverty, and hunger exist, more and more people will take up arms and join the NPA to achieve a free society, free from oppression and exploitation.
