Germany – Dem Volke Dienen: Jens Spahn – Who Cares About What Was Said Yesterday?

Jens Spahn and his husband Daniel Funke are now happy parents thanks to surrogate motherhood.

We hereby share an unofficial translation of an article published by Dem Volke Dienen. The article talks about a recent controversy involving a politician of the CDU (Christian Democratic Party) which went on to prompt his resignation as leader of their faction in the German parliament. The openly homosexual politician had served as a representative in parliament for his Party since 2002. He formed part of the governments of 2015-2018 in the Federal Ministry of Finance and from 2018-2021 as Federal Health Minister, during which he was at the center of a “scandal” of blatant corruption involving deals worth billions for the production of medical masks, for which he still has not been held accountable. In Germany the use of surrogate mothers is illegal, be it commercially or altruistically, meaning based on “abnegation”. While the failed so-called Traffic-Light-Coalition [Translators note: named for the colors of the parties of the German government 2021-2025] under the leadership of the SPD (Social Democratic Party) wanted to investigate options for the legalization of altruistic surrogate motherhood. This is not even mentioned in the contract of the coalition between the CDU and the SPD (current government). The CDU is clearly against it and does not allow discussions about it. In their Party congress at the beginning of the year they announced: “Considering ethical, legal and practical concerns about surrogate motherhood, the CDU reiterates the demand to keep surrogate motherhood illegal in Germany – also in altruistic models – to prevent abuse, exploitation and health risks.”

Now Jens Spahn, the leader of the CDU parliamentary group – and probably Germany’s best-known and most reactionary man-loving woman hater – has bought a child in the US, delivered by a surrogate mother. He declared proudly: “My husband has become a father and I have become a father with him”. With this he clearly acts against the line of his Party, which he himself represented until not long ago. In a podcast with the newspaper Bild he tries to earn sympathy, saying that he grappled with this a lot. Cowardice may be the most fitting term, but he is also profoundly confident that nobody will do anything. Additionally he says that he chose the US for its strict rules. He rejects all criticism.

The media outcry is correspondingly loud, screaming “How could he!?”

Yes, how could he?

In the first place bourgeois politicians do not owe anything to anyone. To follow the Party line is nice, but not a given in bourgeois parties. The scandal about this is hypocrisy, let’s be honest.

Jens Spahn has also already shown that he is primarily interested in one thing: himself. With his illegal dealings of masks during the state of exception, for which he gained wads of cash, he has demonstrated this clearly and has not shown any sign of repentance since. Instead he diligently continued his career in the CDU. He has not had to face consequences until today.

Therefore it is no surprise that he has bought a child abroad to bring to Germany, especially since the approximate cost of 100,000 to 250,000 USD for a surrogate mother there ought to be a small price in comparison with his riches worth millions. As such he does not only consider himself to be above the law, but in fact he is exploiting – or able to exploit – gaps in the laws using his money. It is not strange that he does this and that now there are even voices demanding his resignation inside his own Party. Rather, it reveals the detachment and disdain that so many conservative politicians have for the people, as well as their actual attacks on them.

Because, in spite of the claims that in the USA there are strict rules for surrogate motherhood, the majority of surrogate mothers in the world stem from oppressed countries and are being exploited in the most brutal manner, their bodies being converted in a birthing machinery for degenerate people from imperialist countries, literal parasites feasting on the bodies of these women. It would be hard to top that in terms of imperialist parasitism, woman hating, and degradation! No matter if it is legal or illegal!

This is perfectly consistent with the paradigm of Jens Spahn: He clearly takes position against the right to bodily self-determination, currently in the question of abortion, and using a woman as an incubator is only being consistent.
