More activities on the 1st of May

We share some more reports we have seen on activities on the 1st of May.

In Zurich, Switzerland, thousands of people came together for a march on the 1st of May. The participants, included Partizan, shouted slogans such as “Long live the 1st of May”, “Our leader İbrahim, İbrahim Kaypakkaya” and “Marx, Engels, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Viva Viva Viva”. There were also shouted slogans in solidarity against the police attack on Partizan at the 1st of May demonstration at the Taksim square in Istanbul, Turkey, where 17 where arrested.

In the march, a call was made to the commemoration night of İbrahim Kaypakkaya, which will be held in Basel on the 19th of May.

After the march, the crowd moved to the 1st of May stands, including the stand of Partizan, which received great interest. At the stand area a declaration of the Swiss-Turkish Workers Federation (İTIF), part of the Union of Migrant Workers in Europe (AGEB) as well as a statement of the Prisoners Solidarity Initiative were distributed. There was also great interest in the stand of the Zurich Youth and Culture House of the İTIF.

Before the march militants of the TKP/ML put up a banner along the march route, reading “Long live the 1st of May”, signed by the TKP/ML. In the march militants of the TKP/ML shouted slogans greeting their party, their martyrs and the people’s war.

We have also received reports of a banner that was hung up in Austin, Texas, USA, on the 1st of May.
