A Nova Democracia (AND) issued two reports this week about recently held inaugural meetings.
On October 25, the Carcará Student Collective and the Committee to Support the Newspaper A Nova Democracia in Fortaleza (CE) had held the first meeting of the Study Group on the Brazilian and Latin American Revolution. The first text to be studied was “Alma Matinal” by José Carlos Mariátegui, founder of the Communist Party of Peru. The session was concluded with a tribute celebrating the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of India (Maoist).
This week, on November 12, the Committee to Support the Struggle of the Land Occupiers of Messias was founded in an event at the School of Social Work of the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL). During the speeches, the League of Poor Peasants identified the armed far-right on the countryside as the main enemy of the Brazilian people and called for unity against it. Professors committed to fundraising and leveraging academic resources to support the land occupiers’ struggle, while students volunteered to raise awareness through spreading leaflets.
