Colombia: Update on the Struggle for Land in Caja de Ahorros #1

The Instagram account of ‘Campesinos de Tierra y Agua’ has shared the struggle of the peasants in the provinces of the Cesar and Magdalena.

The peasants from the area gathered in front of the ‘Caja Agraria’ Bank office to protest against the government and the National Land Agency. The promises made during the negotiations have still not been realized, and the peasants keep struggling and waiting for their ownership of the land.

Recently the peasants organized a march against the lack of answers from the government. They stated in their social media account: “The demand is the same: we want that the government fulfills its promises. The land and the definitive ownership titles should be made out to the peasants who recovered the land and who currently only have a provisional title. Long live the peasant struggle!”

They also sent messages denouncing the situation and demanding the land’s ownership titles.

The advances in the camp were also shown. They have built homes with their own hands on the lands where they live and work.
