A Nova Democracia (AND) has reported that the Brazilian police is the one which murders most in the countries belonging to the G20. 6,393 people were murdered in Brazil in 2023, three times more than the joint numbers in 15 other countries. For example, the Yankee imperialism police, one of the most criminal and murderous, in 2023 murdered 1,164 people, almost six times less than in Brazil. The Mexican police murdered 386. The numbers are according to a research made by the Brazilian media outlet OUL (Universo Online).

AND gives other numbers which help to understand the caliber of the crimes by the Brazilian police: “Brazil makes up only 7% of the total inhabitants of the 15 countries studied, but the Brazilian police murders 36 times more than the average of the other countries”. The number is 7.5 times the proportion of murdered by the police in South Africa, which is in second place of the biggest number of murders in proportion to its population”.

The number of murdered people also shows the racist character of the police: 82.7% of the murdered people by the Brazilian police, are black people.

The most affected regions by this police crimes were Bahia on first place, with 1,699 murders, which is more than the entire United States. On the other hand, Amapa gathers the biggest number of murders relative to its population: 233.6 murders per each million of inhabitants, which is 661% more than the national average, which is 33.1.

AND points out that the police agencies act according to the federal states within the old Brazilian State, and the Lula government is actually worsening the situation. For example the Constitutional Amendment Proposal of Public Security will increase police violence, as well as the investments done in police agencies and the transfer of armored vehicles, for example to the Bahia police.
