Commemoration of the Historic “Toma 17 de Mayo” in Chile

Yesterday marked the seventh anniversary of the May 17 land occupation, a project “to address the housing shortage that hundreds of families decided to take into their own hands in Cerro Navia,” which was brutally evicted on May 16, 2024.

El Pueblo newspaper and the Anti-imperialist Front (FAI) Chile highlight: “The commemoration, which was very emotional, addressed the achievements, the importance of organization, and the need to intensify the struggle and resistance. It also brought together various members, supporters, and allies of this cooperative, which is already moving forward with a new project for decent housing. […]

Long live the day of the struggle for decent housing!

Long live the 17 de Mayo Cooperative!

Occupation is not the problem, it is the solution: Down with the anti-squatting law!”
